A solar assessment outlines energy needs, site constraints, and the assumptions used to select a system architecture. A quote then translates the selected scope into equipment, work, options, terms, and price. This collection brings together three guides for preparing inputs, understanding the process, and reviewing a technical proposal.

The relevant fields vary depending on whether the project is residential, commercial, or industrial. The checklist below serves as a framework for preparation and comparison; it does not replace a site visit or the contractual documents required for a specific project.

1. Prepare the Project Inputs

  • address, building type, use, and project objective;
  • recent bills, load list, operating hours, and daily energy usage;
  • starting demand, priority loads, and required backup duration;
  • existing power grid, generator, or UPS; installation area; shade; and available space;
  • photos, plans, cable lengths, access constraints, and target date.

2. Understand the Basis for Assessment

Check the input data, assumptions, PV-battery-inverter architecture, operating modes, design margins, protection, installation limits, and any points that still require confirmation on-site.

3. Review the Proposal and Quote

  • equipment references, specifications, quantities, and documents;
  • scope of supply, work, delivery, installation, and commissioning;
  • price, currency, tax, validity, payment, schedule, and exclusions;
  • warranty, maintenance, training, follow-up, and responsibilities.
